As I wound my way through the Aflac Support Center in Columbus
recently, I came across a floor plan displayed on the wall.
The words “You Are Here” marked the spot where I stood.
That diagram is meant to help guide a person
from points A to B, but truthfully, I’ve been in that
building so many times — the first time being
just after my father and uncles purchased it as
an old dairy — I could probably find my way
through it blindfolded.
It occurred to me, though, that as Aflac
continues to grow, some newly hired individuals
may actually need a map to find their way, not
just as they navigate the twisting hallways in our
many campuses, but also as they steer their
Aflac careers toward new opportunities.
If you are one of the hundreds of new Aflac
family members, you may face each workday
with eagerness — and perhaps a little anxiety.
This Employee Matters is devoted to easing you
into your new work life by introducing you to
veterans who have paved a trail for you. They’ll
give you tips and advice, and reflect on the
tremendous growth that Aflac has experienced,
largely due to their efforts, and what it has meant
to them professionally and personally.
You’ll also be reacquainted with the many teams
that helped transition you from applicant to pro-
ductive Aflac family member.
Remember that whatever our tenure, age or life
stage, we are all responsible for delivering the
Aflac promise The Aflac Way.
You are here ... and I’m glad.
